There’s a harmony that every team can achieve and maintain, with solid communication, leadership, strategy, direction, and collaboration. I personally love recognizing, creating, and perfecting that harmony with teammates. What I consider to be an ever-constant, ongoing project is that of defining and optimizing the flow, the collaborations, between myself and my individual coworkers.
As developers, designers, optimizers, marketers, as software engineers, or even as CEOs: we’re all designing our relationships with each other and our collaborations therein, just as much as we’re designing a product, a website, or a user interface.
I’m a web optimizer, a designer, a developer, a marketer, a strategist, and more. Most importantly though, I'm a fellow team member, a human, interacting and collaborating with other humans every day.
My role: individual team member.
Stay humble, be a team player, and be open-minded.
I know how important it is to always ensure that situations are understood from every angle. That every product or project manager, designer, developer, copywriter, and any others are all on the same page.
How?
Through clear communication.
Through understanding and patience.
Through syncing, 1-on-1’s, or quick Slack messages (again, communication).
If there’s a gap that needs attended to, we must be mindful and aware of that and ensure that it is bridged.
It’s our duty, it’s part of the implied oath that we as developers, as marketers, as software engineers, we as team members take. Everyone is working towards the same goals, connecting on the same level.
“My model for business is the Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other’s kind of negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other, and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That’s how I see business: Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” -Steve Jobs
