From the start, I put my nose to the grindstone with music. From initially learning and playing drums at a young age to then gravitating towards learning guitar, bass, banjo, and more in my teenage years. On through to songwriting, live concerts and gigs, recording studio operations and management, and more.

Music for me has always been best-learned by ear, even though I do have some traditional music-reading background. Spending many years in school band classes, drum and guitar lessons, and being 1st chair for Symphonic and Jazz band and drumline are some of my fondest musical memories.

Some years ago, I also ran a professional recording studio that offered audio production services for musicians. Creativity is embedded in my core and I aim to fine-tune all of my crafts. Music was one of my first entrepreneurial experiences, starting during high school and into college years, thereafter. I have recorded for a wide variety of musicians, as well as releasing some of my own original music.

Scott Mathson Music recording acoustic guitar session

I have a Scott Mathson Music YouTube Channel where I've uploaded basic guitar tutorials, alongside originals and covers. In the videos, I'm sharing guitar lessons and acoustic skills with the audience, sharing easy guitar chords, how to play certain songs on guitar, and more.

You can catch me daydreaming and thinking about re-kindling music and performing in my life — dreaming of dusting off my equipment and taking the stage at some open mic's or busking at craft/farmer's markets. I still do write songs, it keeps me sane and is easily my best form of personal and emotional expression. Music has always been so important to me.
